On being married for one year

Posted In: Weddings

Today marks one whole year since I married my best friend and although they say that the first year of marriage is the hardest, at the risk of sounding smug I don’t feel like it has been hard at all. Sure, we don’t agree on everything, we have had our fair share of disagreements, challenges and tests, and I am absolutely certain I frustrate Joss more than he frustrates me, but being married to your best friend is wonderful.

We have made some amazing memories, travelled to some beautiful countries, gained another niece, spent a huge amount of time with friends and family and just enjoyed being a Mr & Mrs.

I have made quite a few jokes in the last few weeks that we have ‘survived’ our first year of marriage and laughed at the fact that we ‘haven’t killed each other yet’, but actually on reflection, I don’t know why we feel the need as couples to always joke about being happy. Deliriously happy. Let’s just celebrate it and smile our way through the challenges that life will continue to throw at us. I am very much looking forward to 2018!

“Being married is like having a sleepover every day with your favourite weirdo.”

So if you have had a wonderful one year, ten years, 50 years, go shout about it. Spread the love!

Here is a photo diary from our big day to mark a wonderful year of being Mrs Spinks.
